English Mastador
English Mastiff / English Labrador cross
The English Mastador is a cross between the English Mastiff and the English Labrador. Like the English Mastiff, they're loyal and compassionate and will do anything for their family. They will also protect their family if they feel threatened, but are not actively aggressive. However, this cross has more energy than the English Mastiff. The English Labrador provides a more active dog, though not quite as rambunctious as the English Labrador.
The Mastadors are large breed dogs weighing in between 120-185lbs depending on the size of the parents. We breed first generation Mastadors using a female English Mastiff and a male English Labrador and tend to have larger than normal Mastadors. Traditionally, Mastadors are bred using a female English Labrador and a male English Mastiff. When bred the "traditional" way, first generation Mastadors tend to be all black. However, we have found that our puppies tend to be brindles, tricolors and black. We're not quite sure why switching the breeding pairs to the opposite of tradition causes this to happen, but every litter of Mastador's we've had (we started out in this breed way back in the early 2010s) has had multiple brindles and tricolors.

Mastadors wants to be with their family. They want to feel included in everything, even if that means invading your personal space when watching a movie. They cannot be too close to you. As family guardians, they naturally love children. This may mean accidentally knocking toddlers over or blocking a child's view from their favorite cartoon, but it's all in the name of love. However, unlike their Mastiff counterpart, Mastadors like to have a romp in the yard and a good game of fetch. They want to participate in your short hike and would love to run alongside your bike...for a little while. They're by no means high energy, but they've got a little more pep to their step than a Mastiff.

They're people pleasers and respond well to patient training with lots of praise. The English Labrador provides some extra intelligence and eagerness to learn and so training comes naturally to these Mastadors, though we can guarantee that their Mastiff stubborn side won't take over every once in a while
Golden Retriever
intelligent / friendly/ devoted
The Golden Retriever is a well-known family dog. They're often considered "America's family dog" and with their loyalty, friendly and eager-to-please attitudes, anyone can see why.

The English Cream Golden Retriever is actually not a separate breed from the Golden Retriever most people think of, they're just a variation. The English Cream Golden Retrievers have their history in their UK breedings. They are typically stockier and calmer than the American variety. The English retriever has a shorter and wavier coat than the American and come in a cream color as opposed to the golden hues of the American retriever.

We were thrown into the world of retrievers when we unexpectedly brought home Whisper, our foundation female. I had been looking for a smaller breed now that my husband, Glen, was on the road traveling more often and I wasn't able to handle our XL breed program by myself. I wanted to keep with our mission of providing quality, healthy dogs that kept family first and when the opportunity to bring Whisper home presented itself, I jumped at it.

We're excited to start this new adventure and happy to welcome Whisper into our Rogue Mountain home.
English Springer Spaniel
playful / friendly/ obedient
The English Springer Spaniel is a wonder family dog. They are fantastic with children and are incredibly intelligent and people-pleasers. They enjoy running through the yard chasing all the things, but are happy to cuddle on the couch or in bed and watch a movie with the whole family.

English Springer Spaniels are well known in the hunting world and are one of the most popular breeds in the UK. There are two varieties of this breed: bench and field. At Rogue Mountain, we focus on the field bred variety of springers as they are very eager to please and willing to learn. We love that they're willing to play all day with the kids, yet willing to settle in the evening or during a rainy day. They make fantastic playmates and get along with just about every one and every dog.

You may remember that we had springers in our program before. When we decided to focus solely on XL breeds, we decided that we'd take a pause from our Springer program. With the recent changes in our life, we've decided that it was time to bring the springers back alongside the goldens to create a program dedicated to families like us, which children that are active and looking for a playmate to grow up with.
