Welcome to Rogue Mountain.

Welcome to Rogue Mountain, where we go against the grain to provide you not with just a puppy, but with a companion that will change your lives.

I understand that bringing home a new puppy is a long-term
commitment. My goal is to provide you with the knowledge to make the best decision for your family when choosing a puppy. Whether you're just starting your search or you've decided this breed is for you, I'm here to help. Ask your questions and don't hesitate to ask! Trust me, I've probably asked the same question.

We want to make sure that this commitment is right for you. I will never push you to buy one of my puppies. If I don't feel like we're a good fit, I'll let you know and will help you find a breeder that will be.

Our goal at Rogue Mountain is to provide families with the same amazing experience we had when we raised our puppies into the loyal companions they are today. We know raising a puppy can be stressful so we aim to provide puppies that are healthy, have temperaments true to their breed standard, and align to the lifestyle of the family they are going home to.

OUR GOALS WHEN RAISING PUPPIES

Health testing

One of our biggest priorities is making sure your puppy is the healthiest it can be. This means we health test all of our breeding dogs and any outside studs with Embark. We make sure none of them have any breed-specific diseases and also test for 200+ other diseases.

We will educate all of our owners on the importance of diet and exercise limitations (if necessary) with their new puppies. We have food recommendations and exercise advise that will help ensure their puppy grows at the right pace. We will also strongly advise that you keep your puppy intact until at least 12 - 24 months. There has been extensive research that shows puppies need these sex hormones for proper bone and joint growth and health. Without them, you risk joint problems like hip dysplasia and arthritis at an early age. This is especially true for our Mastadors.

Temperaments

Mastadors are guardian dogs and so they should act as one. They should be loyal and calm, not aggressive or overly dominant. Our breeding dogs are friendly and eager to please. They want to meet new people, but can be shy at first. Being shy is okay, being cautious is okay, too. A guardian should be cautious, but willing to step in if needed. We choose our foundation dogs to pass these traits on to our Mastador puppies.

Springers are fantastic family dogs and should be patient with children, friendly and eager to please, making them easy to train. While we do not hunt, we do not discourage the natural instinct for our Springers to follow their noses.

Temperament is so important. Each puppy is an individual, regardless if they all are the same color or not. They each have quirks. Our job is to mold these temperaments into the perfect family dog.

Alignment with Your family

In order for you to have that amazing experience with your puppy like we had, we have to make sure we help you find the puppy that best suits your family and your family's lifestyle. We will never send you home with a puppy you don't want. We want to get to know your family: what your week looks like, what you enjoy doing on the weekends; are you homebodies or do you like to explore the outside? Ask us questions and lots of them! We are here to support your journey in becoming a new dog owner, a first time dog owner or a multi dog owner.

HELLO!

We're the family behind these amazing dogs. We never intended to breed dogs, we sort of fell into it. We got our first English Mastiffs when my husband was gone for long periods of time and I was home alone with my young children. I wanted a dog that would be a guardian, but also gentle with my kids. I also wanted a big dog. I've always loved big dogs.  The bigger the better!

We fell in love with the breed almost immediately. They were gentle with our kids, even as puppies! They were the calmest puppies and were fairly easy to train. I didn't have to worry about my children snuggling up close or pulling an ear a little too hard. I also didn't have to worry about taking them for long walks to burn their energy - we're just not a super active family. We're involved in sports and church and love spending time with friends and family, but we're not avid bike riders, hikers or runners. Our mastiffs didn't mind one bit. They were happy to take a short walk around our 2.5 acres or to just sunbathe in the front yard.

We wanted everyone to have one of these dogs. Because who doesn't want a 200lb cuddle bug? So our breeding program began, with the mission to provide families, like ours, with the perfect guardian dog or companion for their family.

As our program developed, our family went grew and changed and we needed to make some changes to accommodate this. We introduced the English Springers as a smaller and more active companion for our children who were becoming more active. We were nervous with the Springers being much smaller than the Mastiffs, but we have fallen in love with their personalities and trainability. These little dogs pack so much personality in their small bodies. They want to be at football games, exploring the woods while we're camping and napping on our laps while we watch a movie together.

Our Springers are a blend of both the bench and field bred styles and are bred from European lines to give them a more stocky build, rather than the petite build of a true field or hunting style Springer. They're ready to go on whatever adventure you want to take next!

Us

English Mastador

Mastador puppy

English Mastiff / English Labrador cross

The English Mastador is a cross between the English Mastiff and the English Labrador. Like the English Mastiff, they're loyal and compassionate and will do anything for their family. They will also protect their family if they feel threatened, but are not actively aggressive. However, this cross has more energy than the English Mastiff. The English Labrador provides a more active dog, though not quite as rambunctious as the English Labrador.

The Mastadors are large breed dogs weighing in between 120-185lbs depending on the size of the parents. We breed first generation Mastadors using a female English Mastiff and a male English Labrador and tend to have larger than normal Mastadors. Traditionally, Mastadors are bred using a female English Labrador and a male English Mastiff.

Mastadors wants to be with their family. They want to feel included in everything, even if that means invading your personal space when watching a movie. They cannot be too close to you. As family guardians, they naturally love children. This may mean accidentally knocking toddlers over or blocking a child's view from their favorite cartoon, but it's all in the name of love. However, unlike their Mastiff counterpart, Mastadors like to have a romp in the yard and a good game of fetch. They want to participate in your short hike and would love to run alongside your bike...for a little while. They're by no means high energy, but they've got a little more pep to their step than a Mastiff.

They're people pleasers and respond well to patient training with lots of praise. The English Labrador provides some extra intelligence and eagerness to learn and so training comes naturally to these Mastadors, though we can guarantee that their Mastiff stubborn side won't take over every once in a while

English Springer Spaniel

playful / friendly/ obedient

The English Springer Spaniel is a wonder family dog. They are fantastic with children and are incredibly intelligent and people-pleasers. They enjoy running through the yard chasing all the things, but are happy to cuddle on the couch or in bed and watch a movie with the whole family.

English Springer Spaniels are well known in the hunting world and are one of the most popular breeds in the UK. There are two varieties of this breed: bench and field. At Rogue Mountain, we focus on the field bred variety of springers as they are very eager to please and willing to learn. We love that they're willing to play all day with the kids, yet willing to settle in the evening or during a rainy day. They make fantastic playmates and get along with just about every one and every dog.

You may remember that we had springers in our program before. When we decided to focus solely on XL breeds, we decided that we'd take a pause from our Springer program. With the recent changes in our life, we've decided that it was time to bring the springers back alongside the goldens to create a program dedicated to families like us, which children that are active and looking for a playmate to grow up with.
